India Nepal Border Dispute

India Nepal Border Dispute

Hello friends, so here I'm back with new article. We all know that Nepal is our neighbouring country and recently the Prime Minister of Nepal claimed that India is responsible for the spread of Corona virus in Nepal. Furthermore, the PM claimed India of occupying some area of Nepal. The kind of close relations India has shared with Nepal historically, has not been shared with any other country. But these relations have begun to sour over the past few years and days.

So the question arises:- What's the matter between these two countries which lead to these conflicts ..??
Few days ago, Government of Nepal published a new political map that includes a small land controlled by India. It is approximately 300 sq. Km of land located between Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani which Nepal believes to be a part of its own country. This area is the eastern most tip of Uttarakhand. As shown in map given below.

Nepal believes that this area rightfully belongs to Nepal whereas India believes it is India's. This dispute or controversies has arisen due to two events-
✨ When the Indian Defence Minister inaugurated the road of around 80 km along the         India-Nepal border through this disputed area.
✨ On November 2019, Modi government released a new map of India in which the             region of Kalapani was included under India.
These two events triggered the Nepal government and then they released a new map of Nepal with this disputed land as a part of its own country.
The main purpose of this 80 km road was to aid the people on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Before the construction of this road, the yatris had to go to the Kailash Mansarovar via Sikkim which took lot of time. And now after the construction yatris will reach China's border by a car easily.

History:-

According to treaty of sugauli, Nepal lost its area of Sikkhim and Darjeeling. That area was controlled by Britishers. And two rivers border were made use of to define the kingdom of Nepal. Western boundary of Nepal would be along the Mahakali river and the easter boundary would be along the Mechi river. Even today, the India-Nepal border runs along the rivers. In 1960's, when tensions intensified between India and China which led to an Indo-China war then a military post was established by the Indian army in this area. And that the permission was sought from the Nepal monarchy. They gave permission for the protection of India. Even today there is a presence of Indian army in this area. This is the first time that Nepal has shown the Limpiyadhura region in its map.
In May 2015, India and China signed a trade agreement to use the Lipulekh pass as a trade route and this is the point when the India and Nepal relations began to sour.
Here, I'd like to ask you what your opinion is..?? And who does the disputed border area rightfully belong to..?? Write down your opinions in the comment below..
According to my personal opinion, historically India is right.
